After a couple of years out of the continent for a volunteering stint, I decided to reconnect with the most popular programming languages around. I was amazed. It was astounding just how much things in the programming world can change in a number of years. Back in my time, I considered a programming language to be one of the most popular programming languages if the majority of programs or software around were built using it. Nowadays that is not entirely how things work. There is more emphasis on specialization now more than ever before. Every programming language is specifically geared towards a particular aspect. The boom in smart computing and mobile technology has even opened up the programming field.

It is actually hard to pinpoint the most popular programming languages because new ones are created every now and then to fulfill a specific purpose. The advancement in computing hardware and availability of high speed connectivity has also pretty much influenced programming as a discipline. The best programming language to learn have initiated a paradigm shift from command based instruction to other modes as well. This has been seen in near – field connectivity, short range wireless, and robotics too. Increase in processing power has also played a vital role. The most popular programming languages do not need to be only taught in schools and universities. Now students even in early grade can familiarize themselves with the basics of most popular programming languages right from the confines of their homes. Start coding today.
